Join us on a four-day, intentional adventure on the Green River through the Gates of Lodore. River trips have a way of washing away past frustrations and clearing the way for a more optimistic future.
This is the river where one of our co-founders, Stacy Bare, first had the idea of what Happy Grizzly could become.
River trips are great opportunities to bring along one or more of your close family or friends to explore the inner and outer landscape together!
You will start a couple weeks before the trip with a one-on-one intention setting session with one of our team.
We will adventure with you, providing gentle facilitation and an opportunity to speak, or just listen to others talk about their day. At the end we believe you will leave with greater joy, deeper connection, and a clearer understanding of your life now and what you want your life to be in the future.
After the trip, we will work with you to schedule another one-on-one integration session to figure out how we can help to make what you felt and learned on the adventure part of your daily life.
More information on the river trip itself is here: https://www.whitewaterguidebook.com/utah/the-gates-of-lodore/
Experience Level: None required. This is a great river for first time to advanced and expert white-water rafters. At this time of year, there may be a few solid class III rapids-enough for adrenalin and splashing with nothing to be too concerned about!
Fitness Level: Everyone is welcome on the river! With enough different activities like paddling, inflatable kayaks, side hikes and scrambles, you can make this as physically demanding as you want or just sit back and relax all day in the boats and on shore. There are beautiful beaches on this stretch of river.
If you have adaptive needs, we will work with you to ensure you feel comfortable and welcome on this trip. Rafting is great for adaptive adventures of any kind!
What is Included: Four days and three nights on the river. All your food and snacks will be taken care of, as well as soft drinks and water. Some adult beverages will be available. The outfitter will provide a helmet and personal flotation device, as well as a paddle if and when you want to paddle! They will also provide both a day and trip dry bag to take care of all your equipment.
Sleeping bags and tents can be provided on request. A full packing list will be sent to you once you are registered.
We can likely provide camping accommodation the night before and after the trip, or help you find hotel accommodation if you are interested.
A shuttle will be available to and from Salt Lake City, the nearest airport if you need it. Vernal, where the boat house is, is about three hours from the SLC Airport.
The trip begins two weeks before arrival when we will schedule your in-person intention setting with one of our team.
Day 0: You will arrive in Vernal, UT at the OARS / Hatch Expeditions Headquarters no later than 6 pm for your pre-trip briefing. There, you will get your personal flotation device, helmet, dry bags, and if needed, sleeping bag and tent.
Day 1: We will put into the river early in the morning and will spend four magical days on the Green River. All your food to include three meals and snacks, are included while you are on the river.

Day 3: River time!
Day 4: We will take out of the river sometime in the afternoon on the get out of the river and back to Vernal on the 8th.
You could fly out of Salt Lake City late that evening or September 9th.
Two Weeks After the Trip: Two weeks or so after the trip we will again connect in person to talk about your experience on the adventure and how you can go about integrating any epiphanies you had on the trip into your daily life. This may mean figuring out how we support you in making any changes you feel are necessary, or just sharing favorite stories from the journey. We've found this integration to be exceptionally powerful, as well as necessary to ensure the adventure is more than a great memory!
Payment. All our prices are on a sliding scale. The recommended price for this trip is $4,500. The more who pay full price or more, the more we can offer discounts to others.
